About Us
Paws and Recover is a registered Not For Profit Organisation operating in Australia. We are an infrastructure of volunteers who support people by sharing the care of their pets during a health crisis and difficult times.
Paws and Recover offers practical help such as dog walking, fostering, animal grooming, transporting pets to vets and support in assisting people care for their animals.
We aim to:

Offer an alternative to rehoming, abandoning, neglecting or destroying a pet during their owner’s time of crisis.

Alleviate any anxiety for pet owners which enables them to focus on their own well being and assists recovery.
We are based in Sydney, NSW, but we are able to assist in any Australian location if a suitable volunteer is available.

Paws and Recover receives no government funding. We are entirely supported by the community.
Our volunteers tirelessly fundraise and spend their own finances on ensuring that animals are cared for.

Frequently we receive animals that require veterinary care, nourishment and extra special attention. Sometimes we receive animals into our care that are very sick and require urgent attention. This can be very expensive, sometimes into the thousands.
In addition, day to day running of Paws and Recover such as transport adds a further burden. ​ No dollar is wasted, and every single animal deserves a chance at comfort, life and love.

"Professional and caring support"
My daughter had a mental health crisis and was unable to care for her dog. I was unable to care for it in our home and I was having to drive to my daughter's house, feed it and clean the house each day. I was under a lot of stress. Paws and Recover was recommended on the internet. I filled out the forms and received a phone call the next day. They could not have been more helpful. The dog was untrained and that was no problem. Within a couple of days I was contacted and told a foster care home was available. The foster carer came to pick up the dog and since then my daughter and I have received calls, photos and videos reassuring us she is happy and being well looked after. Thank you Paws and Recover for your professionalism and caring support. I highly recommend Paws and Recover.
